Ellie Curtis – Illustrations and Textile Prints

Alfredo y Alberto are an idea for a screenprinted book that I’m working on involving a confused bird and panther whose lives are unfortunately entangled

This is a set of 4 unusual ladies that I drew and screenprinted on my recent artist residency in a Manhattan print studio. I wanted to create some lady characters who conveyed a subtle and curious power. They are strong women! Their personae and attire are influenced by tribal costumes, masks, animals and birds.

A foreboding clan of creatures inspired by objects of witchcraft.

These 3 pieces are for exhibition that I’m taking part in with The East London Printmakers. The show is called Wonderland, it’s about fairytales and it’s happening this summer in a Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. I’ve been working on a narrative with a paradise island called Birlundula where birds and larger mammals co-exist but their relationship becomes sour.

I’m in New York at the moment doing some projects in a print studio. I’m working on drawing and screenprinting up some characters. This is one I printed last week, she’s got some other friends in the pipeline.
