I created this fabric print design for the fabrics and papers company St.Judes. At the time I was regularly going along to Lindy Hop classes and I thought about the forms and the shapes people  there made while I making it. I wanted it to feel light and fun and full of movement. Some aspects of a few plants I saw at the botanical gardens in Sheffield also came out in my drawings. Maybe the bar scene in the first Star Wars had some influence too!

Bamboo Barbara is inspired by musician M.I.A’s song ‘Bamboo Banga’ a tune I love. Cavewoman power. Here she is in a very different element on a lovely thick white linen.
